What is a Webquest?

I've been rather tied up lately. First, I've been working on the blog on Spanish and English literature. Second, finishing an online course about Moodle. Besides, I've become involved in an interesting project on this specific Webquest, How did women live in the Middle Ages ?.
My students from 1st Bachillerato and I will be working on it all this month long and as they don't know anything about Webquests, I've prepared this presentation for them and of course, for anyone who is interested in this useful "technique for Internet-based learning".

When I read about this Webquest on Mar Gallego's blog, I found it so appealing that I told my students to work on it as an optional task. Some of them volunteered and here, some of their projects.

-a very interesting topic to work on.

-you learn a lot about what happened at that period.

-enjoyable to do.

-it makes you think.

Yes, a great job. It's understandable it has been given an award by La Consejería de Educación.

We must encourage our students to participate in our classes. Activities, tasks, projects... should be designed bearing in mind their different styles and preferences.People learn in different ways and by providing our students varied inputs relating to different senses and different intelligence types (click on multiple intelligence), we will be offering them more effective learning opportunities.

The other day, we were talking about films and they did this activity that has to do with visual intelligence

They had to:
-identify the films above
-say what kind of films they are
-choose one and write about its plot, main characters and review.

Once they have done it, they will create a mind map about films just here

They will include:
-different types of films
-films posters
-a link to Wikipedia
-another link to a site with interesting information (plot summary, video clip...)
-their opinion

En las clases las cosas no van bien.Con las evaluaciones, las notas... comienzan los enfados ,las caras largas, las quejas etc. Ahora se dan cuenta, aunque les cuesta admitirlo, de lo importante que es hacer y entregar los proyectos cuando acordamos, el trabajo constante, gestionar el tiempo debidamente, asistir a las clases... todo eso para aprobar y algo más... aprender.

Siempre me pasa lo mismo, la época de exámenes y evaluaciones me deprime, me gustaría ser una "profe 10" y como Michelle Pfeiffer en "Mentes peligrosas" conseguir "imposibles"... muchas veces veo dejadez y apatía. Muchas veces siento cansancio... son tantos y llegar a todos; a sus estrategias, problemas, gustos, ganas o aburrimiento.

Y enfadada con ellos y enfadada conmigo,un alumno me envió esta presentación a raíz de una composición que debían hacer sobre animales en peligro de extinción. ¡Vaya! un " rayito de sol" entre tanta espesura.

On Friday morning, we had the presentations of the posters in the class.The students talked about Australia, Asturias, Benalmádena, Frigiliana, Málaga, Cuevas de San Marcos... and they gave us information about their location, main points of interest, gastronomy, festivals... They did a good job, better than expected...so, we´ll repeat the experience; it was their first time and they were about to panic...

It can be a good way to make them practise their English... I´m happy about their outcomes.

A foreigner in Britain

On the third term, we have read A foreigner in Britain .

The main character visits different places in England, Wales and Scotland and tells us about their customs, traditions, festivals. After reading it I suggested to my students that they do a powerpoint presentation about the places that appear in the book. They didn´t have to do it, just if they wanted ... but almost all of them have done it and what is more they also want me to upload all their projects!!
