Happy summer!

This summer we are thinking of going to Portugal again. Yes, again, we love this country.
Two years ago, we travelled to Lisbon, a charming and magic place you shouldn't miss. Last year we went to Vila Nova de Milfontes, a beautiful town on the Southwest coast, with little tourism and fascinating long and sandy beaches which are still unspoilt . Ideal for a family trip and for anyone looking for a relaxing and quiet holiday. You can't miss it either. And this year? well, we would like to go to the North, Aveiro, Porto, Bragança, Coimbra, Viana de Castelo. We have been said they are amazing places. I'll let you know.

This video about Lisbon is taken from Geobeats, an interesting site about destinations from all over the world. Hundred of worldwide filmmakers and hosts show us their cities and tell us about landmarks, activities, art, food, shoopping, nightlife, festivals, people...
Really useful for preparing activities for students and above all for those ones studying tourism and get them to know other places and cultures.

And, What about you? What are you doing this summer?, Are you going anywhere on holiday? Well, whatever you do or wherever you go have a nice summer and enjoy ! I'll see you in September!

Take care

Ana

A visit to Gibraltar

We were supposed to go on a trip to Gibraltar on Monday, well, that was the idea but the bus drivers happened to be on strike so, we had to postpone it for two days later. I felt sorry for my students who were quite disappointed and had to eat their packed lunch at school!
Fortunately, we left for Gibraltar on Wednesday and everything was O.K.
Nice weather, nice walks through the city, nice shopping and a delicious meal in "El Capote" ( bullfighter's cape ).We had a great time and the students also had time to to do an assignment which consisted of asking Gibraltarian people questions concerning their history, geography, culture, life, and shopping.
Below, MªCarmen tells us about Gibraltar.

(Thanks a lot, Mª Carmen)

A very smart child

Learning where different countries from all over the world are located on a map is quite a simple issue, even for a little child. Don't you believe me?
Then, watch this:

Wow!. Now, it's your turn!

Real English

This is the third school year that my students go to Málaga Airport to carry out a survey about travelling.
The main aim of this assignment is to collect information so as to find out why people travel. Well, I'm not telling you the truth... the real aim is to get them to speak English. By asking different people questions concerning their trips, they have a great chance to use English outside the class; face to face interviews make them practice what they have been learning. They love this activity and that´s another reason to do it every year.
The full activity is here .
This time they have gone a bit further, most of them recorded videos of the interviews. Students never stop surprising me.

Posters

On Friday morning, we had the presentations of the posters in the class. The students talked about Australia, Asturias, Benalmádena, Frigiliana, Málaga, Cuevas de San Marcos... and they gave us information about their location, main points of interest, gastronomy, festivals... They did a good job, better than expected...so, we´ll repeat the experience;  it was their first time and they were about to panic...
It can be a good way to make them practise their English... I´m happy about their outcomes.
